The Most Beautiful Route on Kilimanjaro

The Machame Route is considered the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro. Known as the "Whiskey Route" for its steeper, more challenging terrain compared to Marangu's "Coca-Cola" path. It approaches from the south-west through dense rainforest before crossing the Shira Plateau.

The route uses the "climb high, sleep low" acclimatisation strategy — ascending to Lava Tower at 4,630m before dropping down to Barranco Camp. Tent camping throughout. Higher success rate than Marangu due to better acclimatisation profile.
